I prefer eating the beef and rice separately but it’s tasty both ways.
- Onions, sliced
- Shirataki noodles
- Soy sauce
- Japanese red pepper “shichimi“
Simply cook onions and beef in sake, dashi (liquid or powdered), mirin and soy sauce and add drained shirataki noodles and boiled over low heat. Add some Togarashi, Japanese red peppers (mix of 7 different peppers,) also called Shichimi, for a little spice and aroma.
The beef comes out very tender and tasty and it goes nicely over rice or even with udon noodles (when cooked without the shirataki noodles). Another variation is to substitute potatoes for shirataki noodles for a more hearty version.
